Netflix announced on Monday that it has placed a straight-to-series order for an untitled animated show set in the Stranger Things universe.<\/span><\/p>\n The streaming giant is working with Sydney-based animation house Flying Bark and Eric Robles, creator of Nickelodeon’s Fanboy & Chum Chum, on the project.<\/span><\/p>\n Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer will executive produce the series alongside their collaborator Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps.<\/span><\/p>\n Although the plot details for the new animated series remain under wraps, the Duffer brothers have indicated that the show will take inspiration from “Saturday morning cartoons.”<\/span><\/p>\n This style harks back to popular 1980s-era series such as Masters of the Universe, Jem and the Holograms, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and G.I.
